If you are social with your dog by taking them to dog parks, groomers, pet stores, or kennels, your pet is at a greater risk. The Parvo Virus is highly contagious, and can be active in the soil or ground for many years. Meaning, your pet can pick it up, long after the exposure has occurred. The virus is spread through contact, and can live on objects for months, even years. If your pet has contacted Parvo, the common incubation period, before showing symptoms is 7 to 10 days. Symptoms such as vomitting, diarrhea, lethargy, blood
in stool or vomit, decreased thirst or appetite, can all be related to Parvo. The cost of treating parvo is expensive, ranging from $800 - $2000, depending on the severity of the case. The course of treatment can be horrifying and unbearable for some. Keep in mind, that Parvo can be deadly, if not treated.  In the end, it is best to make sure your pet is well vaccinated.
